I brought the fish and chips home, and sat on the floor eating them with my fingers. The fish was quite greasy, so for a while I wished that I had a knife and fork instead.
Then I realised, “You know what? I own a knife and fork. In fact, I own several!”
It'd just been so long since I'd used them that I'd forgotten...
Fish and chips is meant to be greasy. Fish and chips is meant to be eaten with fingers only. I have never seen anybody eat fish and chips with knife and fork. Fish and chips tastes better when eaten the way it is supposed to be eaten :)
Hmm, I usually eat fish and chips with a kinfe and fork. But then, that could just be me being weird again.
Hmm, I think I'm with Charles on this one. Eaten on the hoof, fingers are the appropriate tool (after trying then discarding the useless wooden or (horror!) plastic, fork). Can of pop/lager as optional accompaniment until something gets dropped on the pavement.
Taken home though, that's very different. Plate, knife and fork, decent ketchup (not the vinegary stuff from chippies). Your own bread and butter (as long as it's white). Mug of tea.
God I miss fish and chips...
