About Charles

Charles Miller, the author of this blog, has been a tech-support technician for an ISP, a Perl hacker, a Usenet nerd, a Law-school drop-out, a Computer Science drop-out, a DALnet IRC Operator, a Linux system administrator, a Java course instructor, a Websphere consultant, and a check-out operator at Target.

He previously blogged on his Radio Userland weblog, The Desktop Fishbowl, and before that on a Manila site also called The Fishbowl.

He currently works for Atlassian Software, who Mike assures him are Insanely Great, as lead developer on Confluence, the enterprise wiki.

His posts can get rather long on occasion, but if that clogs up your News page, you can always subscribe to the excerpts-only newsfeed instead. He tends to write about what's on his mind rather than linking to stuff. His habit of talking about himself in the third person is really a symptom of having spent too much time on IRC and he is really a little too fond of run-on sentences.

The sunset photo in the site's banner was taken by Charles in Port Stephen, New South Wales, on September 29th 2002. It's been photoshopped slightly to remove two boat-masts that were breaking the skyline.
