A helpful co-worker pointed out that one of the links in my previous post that should have pointed at an old article instead pointed to Wikipedia, so I went to Google to track down the correct URL.

Two hours after I wrote it, my blog post is in the index and showing up in search results. That’s just a little uncanny. It’s not even as if I update my blog that often any more.
I (and probably others) subscribe to your blog through Google Reader so I suspect the fact that Google is pulling down your RSS feed every couple of hours has something to do with it.
I have Google Alerts on one of my names and I've noticed that nearly everything it turns up is my posts to sites which have feeds, and very fast. I suspect they specifically track sites-with-feeds and prioritize new entries in their indexer.
