Is it just me, or does the article seem to imply that you would have to ingest 400kg of carrots to die from Falcarinol poisoning, rather than protect yourself from cancerous tumors?
The rats just ate a diet supplemented with carrots, and the risk of cancer reduced. It seems that the reporter grabbed the 400kg number and started making shit up. Typical reporter.
Yep. 400kg carrots in a single sitting is a lethal dose. I am not a doctor, but I think around 25kg would be a lethal dose, causing the bowels to split and stomach acid, stool an chewed carrot to leak through the rest of the internal organs.
Which brings us back to the reporter's original point: if you eat 400kg of carrot a day you definitely won't die of _cancer_.
Amazing when you think about it. 5 times the weight of an average person. Some creatues eat 5+ times their own body weight... I don't think that includes any mammal. Damn you digestive system, damn you.
Oh no, I'm allergic to carrots. I guess I'll just have to find "the natural pesticide (Falcarinol)" in pill form. (Unless that is what I'm really allergic to)
Doctor, can you prescribe me a pill of pesticide please? Yes that's right, its to prevent cancer.
Eating 400kg carrots :) Only the idea is so stupid and totally impossible. The reporter most likely used his calculator to multiply what he heard aobut rats. But being a reporter he just wrote it he didn't understood how stupid will be :)
