dSpace looks interesting. It's a document management system, written to “...create and establish an electronic system that captures, preserves and communicates the intellectual output of MIT's faculty and researchers.”

A good fit for a java.blogs peer-reviewed library of best-practices documents, perhaps? I might set up a server on the weekend and see what it can do.
